Funny file extension, .iso [OT]

Does anyone know how I use a .iso file?

It should be an installation file, or a compressed file.

iso is actually a CD-ROM image file. You need a program that burns iso files. Adaptec easy cd creator does this job.

So - is there anyway of unpacking the file to my HDD

or do I DEFINATLY need to use a CD-R
