Two things make me think it is not real. First, the cat probably wouldn't make the same mistake twice. Second, the camcorder was following the cat too precisely, and knew when it would let go. In any case, I still wet myself laughing.

It was part of a Nokia cell phone commercial. I used to have the link to the full video, but can't find it anymore. Anyhoo, still a hilarious clip

No it wouldnt, I used to throw cats off of two story houses. Some guys at the dorm threw a cat off the 4th floor, still lived. They have a high pain tolerance.
