Funny alternative to prime 95 CPU testing?

Just a couple days ago I was running my new XP-M 2600+ (mobile) chip, and after a mild overclock I decided to take a break and actually use my computer for a bit. I hopped onto this game called Runescape, which I'm sure some of you must have heard of (www.runescape.com). While playing, I still had speedfan (nifty voltage/fan/temp utility) running, and I looked at it before closing it. With runescape running, speedfan was telling me my CPU was running under 90-100% load. I closed speedfan, and continued to play runescape. In just a couple minutes, runescape crashed. I found this odd since when I had run prime 95 just a while ago, it too marked an error within a few minutes. I rebooted, upped my voltage slightly, and went back to playing the game. No troubles. Out of curiousity, I rebooted again, undervolted further than I was before, and tried playing runescape again. Crashed almost 15 seconds into playing it. I came to the conclusion that playing runescape is a much funner way to test your CPU than letting prime 95 take over your computer for hours on end :D ;)

Runescape is boring though. I picked up Rabbit Ears last year and you cant sell them.

I prefer Prime95 mixed with a few hours of doing nearly anything else.

The only thing I can see myself enjoying while having prime 95 running is going outside :p

any program thats cpu intensive running on an unstable machine will crash. run anything you want, its just prime95 is better at doing so.

Jeesh, you guys are no fun...
I was expecting much school girl giggling out of this post, but alas
I get refuted
I am fully aware that anything CPU intensive will crash
I just found it amusing that runescape was CPU intensive and served my purposes of prime 95ing, so to speak
just in case some of you out there enjoyed the game...

no ~ you are correct.

NFS Underground will tell me what i need to know in less then 30 mins.
NFS Underground can easily crash a system thats ONLY 5 hours P95 stable in less then 5 mins.
P95 doesnt test gaming ;)

Thugs, is NFS Underground any good? I've considered getting it, since I like NFS Porsche Unleashed so much. Is Underground better than Porsche Unleashed?

its kinda good.

its like "the fast and furious" in a video game.
you can slam into walls all day long, not very realistic on that end.

damn tough on my system tho ;)

And what's so bad about going outside? Sounds like you need another hobby... like photography. ;)

Its kinda the opposite on my machine. Prime can fail within 2 minutes at 210 fsb yet Ive ran NFSU, X2: The Threat and any other recent and heavy on the PC game and it wont crash.

But you are right... P95 doesnt test gaming.

There's a playable demo for NFSU, you should check it out. Fileshack has it, among others. I'm a big fan of the game -- even though EA Games as a company really gets on my nerves.

If you do get NFSU, I'd recommend the Mazda Miata for most race types. At least until you unlock the Nissan Skyline ;).

I run a few levels of Unreal Tournament 2004 with 20 or so bots in a large map, while running Prime95. If it makes it for an hour or so, I cal it good to go.

Thanks, Somniferum, as soon as broadband is available where I live (according to the phone company and the cable company, that date will be the day after hell freezes over), I'll download that.;)
