My system in my sig with Antec NeoHE 500.

I got a total score of 4626 which is quite less for my graphic card even with lower cpus.

SM2 = 2267
HDR/SM3 = 2588
CPU = 789

total = 4627

Total comes out to be greater than 5000, right?

Also, how can total score be less than SM2 + HDR/SM3 combined.

All settings were default for 3d mark 06 and all the tests were run once on a newly formatted hdd with very basic soft ware and no games installed.

Catalyst 6.6 was used and all/most settings were set to maximum performance and AA and AF were to app preference.

What can be the reason for such a low score?
Had it been a 1900XT, I would probably have got around 3800 which is what somebody who had Amd 64 3000 maybe oced to 2.26 or so with 512mb X1800XT got. Even if his CPU got another 100 points, 1900XT from 1800XT 512 must be around 500-800 points, right? That way I must get around 5000 points atleast. Why didn't I get them?

2 ghz processor limited. Also, your PC is not dual core so 3dmark subtracts a lot of points....

Please don't say x1900xt sucks again :(

Gersson and 1dark1sharigan1 are both correct. I get around 4200 with my 7800GT + Opty 144 @ 2.8GHz + 2GB ram. As you can see, even though your x1900xtx kicks my 7800gt in the balls, my 2GB of ram and 2.8GHz opty provide sufficient groin protection so it doesn't hurt too much. :D

Even I have 2GB ram.
Also a cpu can't help you enough to get your score to 4600.
Also, shouldn't a 1900XTX get atleast 4800-5000 points even with this cpu, from what I have heard. With a fast cpu it approaches aroun 6000 points.

how many programs are you running in the backround? make sure you close ALL of them, by then you should only have like 26-30 processes in the windows task manager, also make sure you set your drivers to "performance" when running 3dmark. and if none of that helps, buy a new cpu

I was not running any program in the backgroud, i don't know of those processes you mentioned.

I am not sure whether the drivers were set to performance, i did set them but when i opened CCC they were closer to quality.

Ctrl-Alt-Delete then click on processes and close all the unnecessary ones or better yet boot up the comp with nothing to load. go to "run" in the start menu, type msconfig, click on start up, then hit disable all, restart comp, ONLY load CCC or ATT, set it all to performance, load up 3dmark, enjoy your 5500

please don't joke. you yourself have a lower cpu, please tell on what settings does it run perfect with no stuttering and lagging. same for other games i mentioned.

I ran Lost Coast @ 12X9 MAX 4x AA 16x AF
it was ok most times but while fighting sessions it came down and there was some choppiness, it had infact come down to 20s for some time.

I am using CAT 6.6

You need to crank the resolution up to eliminate any bottleneck, 12x9 even with eye candy on is too low for that card. Try 1920x1200 :D see if that works.

1)I can't go above 1280X1024.
2)1280X1024 with eyecandy can't show big difference.
3)What you are talking is not making much sense, the performance I get @ 1280X1024 will be greater than what I can get at 1920X1200. Though the performance gap will reduce between different cpus at 1920X1200, the performance would still be lower.

Maths:
12X10 lower cpu : x fps
higher cpu: x + 30%x fps

19X12 lower cpu : 80%x fps
19X12 higher cpu : 80%xfps

see any benchmarks for this conclusion

he's actually right, if you look at the benchmarks for the x1900xt/xtx, it performs better at higher resolutions. they suggest above 1600x1200.

You don't have dual core, and your CPU isn't that fast.

In the real world though, it shouldn't matter.
You can try OCing your CPU a bit to get a higher score.

I have no idea what you just said, however it's logical to assume that at 12x9, the GPU might not be stressed enough, therefore raising the resolution will not only give you a better IQ, but also won't slow the card down since it's not being used to it's full capacity at lower resolutions.

I'll give you a math equation of my own :D

at 12x9 with eye candy your only using lets say 65% of what the card can really do.

raising the resolution to 1600x1200 with eye candy will roughly take 35% more GPU horsepower, and OMGZ look you have exactly that much that's not being used!

therefore you won't see a performance hit. (ok this wasn't much of an equation but I think it gets my point across :) )

Just instead of asking questions, why not try it out and see for yourself?

Let me know how it works for you.

Also, if your monitor limits you to 1280x1024, I suggest you get a better monitor which will also stress your video card more.

Viewsonic VX2025wm FTW!

You're going to need more than a 3200 winchester to actually use that x1900XTX to even a portion of it's full capabilties in current games.

I just ordered a 7950gx2 and a second gig of ram. I am now sad to say im pissed at myself after reading posts that I cant fully use this card. There is no real way I can spring for a dual core cpu after spending many months earnings on this card. I had to get a new psu and more fans too. I ran the cpu test with my 3200+ and i only got 779 as my score :( any help or cheap fixes?
