I think that the funniest thing to happen so far in the Olympics is the 20KM race walk. The rules state that you must keep one foot on the ground at all times and if you don't a judge will walk out on to the road and point at you for such an offence. You are allowed 3 before you are disqualified.

The 'winner' of the race was a Mexican athlete........ but it said on the board that he was disqualified. No one notified him that he was DQ'd so he went for his victory lap. After that he was being interviewed by Mexican TV when from out of the blue.......... a suit clad offical walks up to him and flashes him the 'red' card as if to say 'got ya' and quickly ran away (I would to) :p :p :p :p :p :p

Actually its a very tough sport. These race walkers travel faster than most people jog. The 20 KM is the short race......... the 50 KM is up in a couple days.

i thought the funniest moment was when that guy from some tiny little unheard of country had to swim the 100m (or was it 200m?) freestyle by himself after the only other 2 competitiors in his event were both disqualified. great entertainment value, and the guy really enjoyed himself too, first time he has ever swam that distance without stopping part way through.

they are even auctioning his one and only pair of goggles that he wore in that heat to raise money for a charity :)

And that swimmer only learned to swin last january, he was supposed to compete in the 100m freestyle but his coach put him in 200m instead. The funny thing is that he qualified
