Funeral, what's the social obligation

Got the call this morning that the funeral is at 1:00. We were friends but not very close at all. They moved away two years ago and we haven't seen them since.

Trying to decide how bad it would look for us not to go.

send a card, or make a phone call expressing your grief. Then you should be in the clear.

If you got an invitation yet you're not close to the neighbor, then JoeKing's advice sounds about right.

funny you should post this, i was asked yesterday to be a pall bearer for an older lady that died last week. she attended our church and apparently there weren't enough relatives to do that.

btw, i agreed to do it although i wasn't that close to this particular family.

We haven't talked to them since they moved away. We've never even met the mother. The problem is how we'd be viewed by the neighbors that will go.

BTW, it's only a few miles away. It's not really the distance that's the issue.
