funeral flowers

friend's sister passed away on last monday at the age of 18 🙁
I can't make it to the funeral, they are in west coast and i am in east coast. so I am going to send some flowers to them. my budget is about $50.

is this good?

Get a philodendron if you're going to get a funeral plant, or even a dieffenbachia. I know because I work part time at a florist who primarily does funeral work. Peace Lilies are our most popular plants, and I think the most appropriate.

Tulips or an orchid are not really sutable

Looked at your link; usually, one doesn't send potted plants... send a bouquet of some sort.

Having worked in a funeral home for over 3 years, I have definatley seen it all in terms of flowers sent.

Normally, just about anything is acceptable as long as its not goudy or too flashy.

This is not necessarily true. Often times, the family will end up throwing out or donating all the bouquets/stands/arrangements and keep the potted plants and pots. Example, I constantly was throwing out "bouquets", I've never thrown out a pot =)

Roses and lilies are common.

EDIT: to answer your question, I think that is a great choice in sending for your friend's sister.
