I never took it as an EE. is that the same thing as the EIT exam? The only folks I know who took that test were civil engineers & EE's who were getting into Power.

EIT is the old name for the FE exam. It changed a long time ago though. I don't think any majors require it. Few professions even require it unless you're doing something that can affect public safety.

Hmm, well if you plan on working for a city agency, you definately need to pass the FE. And although they changed the name to "FE", you should still mention it as the "EIT" because alot of licensed professionals still remember it as the EIT.

The reason why is the FE or EIT is imporant, because you first need to pass that test, before you can be a licensed engineer. To be a licensed engineer, you need to have passed your FE or EIT, and then have a certain number of years of design experience in industry to then take your PE exam. Once you passed your PE exam, you are offically licensed, which means you can offically sign off on drawings and stuff (but if something goes wrong, it's on your head, lol cuz it's your sig)

Usually it isn't important if you are working for a private company since they already have certain people with it.

But if you plan on getting a job with any city agency, then yes, you should definately take it.

And it's the same test for EE, Civil Engr and Mechanical Engrs
