No, because the girls are exploited (some marry as young as 14, to men who are in their 40s and 50s), and the boys are often kicked out to keep the female to male ratio in the elders favour.

If some lucky dude (or girl) can really score 2 women who are willing to marry him, then i would say yes, but these 'Mormons' who practice this, brainwash the boys and girls, and they take advantage of the welfare system to have dozens of kids.

This argument is akin to saying that marijuana should remain illegal because some people might use and drive. In other words, the harm you describe is separate and not limited to the cause you wish to keep illegal.

And yes, polygamy should be legalized, including polyandry. Provided all parties involved are consenting, it's not the government's business, except as a form of legal contract and no more.

there is no such thing as "fundamentalist Mormons ", anyone that advocates or practices polygomy is kicked out of the LDS church

the people referenced in the article do not belong to the "Mormon" church, they have either been kicked out or were never members (but their ancestors may have been kicked out if they refused to stop practicing polygomy when the church ended polygamy)

Yes there are fundamentalist Mormons. There are many different sects of Mormonism. The two main ones are the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Mormonism is like Christianity (and some say it is a sect of Christianity); That would be like saying the Southern Baptist Church has no (extreme) fundamentalists when Fred Phelps and his Baptist church are making fools out of them selves. I usually go to a Baptist church when I go to church, and I can't say I know one person who supports what Westboro Baptist is doing. They are Fundamentalist Baptists just like polygamists are Fundamentalist Mormons.

WBC has like 20 members. Fundamentalist mormons number 40K and growing to me that is not a "sect"
