I'm very happy to have replaced my old Panasonic 32" Tau with a new 50" Viera. But I'm looking to hook up the new TV to my wireless network. So far, I have found the Panasonic dongle that they sell for an absurd price. Has anyone found a functional equivalent that is much cheaper? I'm also trying to think ahead here about other devices like the purchase of a future PS3 so I'm thinking I should get a wireless N repeater. How did you solve this problem? (Thanks.)

Pick up a cheap, used wireless N router, flash it with the DD-WRT firmware, then set it up as a wireless repeater bridge. You can then hook up the TV and whatever other devices you may get in the future as wired connection to that router.

I recently purchased the Panasonic DMP-DB655 dvd player.
I would like a USB wireless connection from my Linksys wireless G router to my dvd player.
Various retailers sell the Panasonic DL-WL10 wireless adapter that is supposedly the only working adapter.

Is there a cheaper alternative wireless adapter?

Must I but the N typer as mentioned above or does a G work as well?

Depending on the Panny's chipset you may be able to substitute another dongle, but I would get a wireless bridge instead. The Zyxel 3205 is about $40 and will let you give other devices wireless connection as well.

Note that "G" speeds aren't enough for HD streaming. I'd consider spending another $40 for the Asus N12 router. If you want an alternate firmware (I think the recent Asus ones are pretty decent) I'd flash to Tomato rather than DD-WRT, though... Tomato's much more elegant. The "N" version is here (this will also let you use it as a bridge, but you may not want to go through the flashing hassle just to hook up your Blu-Ray).

Thats a really good idea seeing how most of them start around $30-40 for a single adapter. You also have the added benefit of only having to reset one device vs one per component. I purchased a linksys gaming adapter for my parents blue ray drive and it has to be connected to a computer once a month to "resync" with their router. That is tough when I am a couple of hours away.
