I know it is just the CEO and not the company as a whole, but this does not look good for the company. I didn't realize the stock prices had fallen so far.

The timing of this sale is what has fans of Funcom's games particularly concerned. The recent quarterly earnings report showed that Age of Conan had already lost nearly half of its customers. After the first two months, AoC was down from 800,000+ subscribers to approximately 415,000.

The stock price of Funcom N.V has been in free fall lately. As of August 22, 2008 it closed at $13.60 per share. This is down from $55.50 in late May (just after the release of Age of Conan).

Shame, but not surprising at all. AoC can probably limp on for years with only 250k subscribers or so, but still, a major disappointment.

The selling of stock doesn't really mean as much as buying. After all, we don't really know why he's selling. Maybe his kids need tuition, maybe he just bought a house. It's not necessary that the company is doing poorly. On the other hand, there's really only one reason people buy stock: they think it'll go up.

That is nearly 4 million a month @ 15$ a month per user....very survivable.

Assuming they can keep those customers.
Personally I don't see it happening.
Any company that has stock go from $55 to $13 in less than 6 months has some serious internal issues.

it's not helping when there are so many bugs in the game. the current flavor is

While charging an enemy: every time you press that same hotkey, the Charge hotkey, it will instantly register a hit.

So basically you want to start as far from you opponent as possible to allow for more presses of the hotkey before you reach your target.

Once you finally arrive at the target it pounds it for as many hits as your finger or G15 type keyboard can hammer out during the charge. It doesn't log the hits, but you can see the numbers float away on screen as your enemy explodes for +15,000 damages

This should work for any class with a Charge ability.

pvp fun.

The Age of Conan forum wars are more fun than the actual game. Too bad they don't offer a subscription for those!

The Article indicates it is to pay for the cost of Options being exercised and probably to cover some Taxes as well.

Generally this is fairly normal. The timing is of course worrisome, and this is $6.8M we're talking about . . . .

I have heard that they're supposedly working on AOC 2, and who knows what (if anything) else is in the works. If there are some good titles coming up (and the CEO would know) then buying at this price may just be a savvy move on his part.

there is no chance in hell of them having 400k subs. the servers are deserted. i'll bet they have 200 - 250 subs, with maybe 100k actually playing.

I wish these companies would stop trying to milk the MMO cash cow. Blizzard has their milking machine firmly attached to all of the udders on that cow... errr something. Anyway, we need more original single player franchises on the PC.

Too many bugs. No content. Devs seem clueless. Yea... It doesn't seem like it will improve soon either.

AoC is done. With how good the pvp is in warhammer and wotlk coming out for wow I just can't see many people giving Funcom anymore money.
