My camera's maximum aperture is 2.8 at 28mm so it's not quite as dramatic as the really wide prime lenses, but I still managed to have some fun with it and some toy soldiers that my daughter was playing with last night. I used spot focus to make the camera center on the head of each soldier individually.
For reference, these soldiers are just under 1 inch tall. Using the "middle" shot as a reference, that means I'm getting less than 1/2 inch DOF in these photos.

I did an overhead shot as well to show the actual positions of the soldiers in relation to the truck. I think the wide angle lens and overhead perspective makes it look like the guy with the machine gun is really short and "stocky".
I need to figure out a way to get shots of my girls from this perspective to see how they turn out. If I get some really good ones, I can keep them as blackmail material for when the girls get old enough to start dating.
