I was flamed out of one of the gaming forums so I'm hoping for better luck here.

I enjoy wasting time on my iPad. Any good games you might recommend?

I've just completed Kingdom Rush and I'm looking for the next distraction/procrastination enabler.

I got my Kindle Fire last week, and I've been having fun with a couple basic games.
These are probably all the stand-bys for people who have been on SmartPhones/Tablets for the past few years, but it's all new to me. (And these are all on iOS)

Doodle Jump, the new Angry Birds in Space, Words with Friends, Cut the Rope and Alpha Jetpack.
Where's My Water is OK, and PvZ is good (but I've already played thru it on PC.)

As a huge Tetris fan, I find the EA Tetris maddening because of the controls.

Would help to tell us the type of games you're interested in.

For strategy games, i would download LandGrabbers, squids, and tiny heroes (all are free).

Wind up knight is also free now, though its super hard.

Bike baron and draw race 2 are awesome.

Tablets are not for games...too big form factor to handle your hands while playing games

The tower defense games are fun but I also like games such as Where's My Water and Cut The Rope.

Free, while nice, isn't necessarily important. And 'free' in the tablet gaming world seems to mean 'let me lure you in and force in-app purchases to finish the game'. For example, before LandGrabbers went to its current model for a $1.99 you could finish the whole game without an in-app purchase now you need to make multiple purchases to make it through the game.

I'll give PvZ, Tiny Heroes and Squids a try. Keep the suggestions coming.

Try puzzle quest 2 if you want a bejewelled type game with a little more depth.

Cursed Treasure is awesome if you want another great tower defense game. Second best td game I've played on iOS, after kingdom rush.

Ghost Trick is available for the iPad for $10, and you can play the first few levels for free to see if you like the game before committing to buying the game. It's an interesting story driven puzzle game that should give you about 20 hours of game play.

Galcon is the only fun mobile game I've seen in the many dozens I've tried in the last few years, but Baldur's Gate EE is coming to the iPad this summer, which will vastly improve the situation.

Yes, completely agree with Puzzle Quest 2 and Cursed Treasure. Both are amazing.

I cant get into it on a Tablet for some reason. I loved all of them on the PC but its just not working for me on the tablet.

I think its because its one of those games that you need to spend hours at a time playing and that just dosnt really suit tablets. Mind you it could just be that I'm burned out on BG2. :(

My favorite tablet games are all ones from the first Humble Bundle.
World of Goo
Osmos
Anamoly

But by far the game that I have wasted the most time on has been the iOS version of Carcasonne. The Android port is not as good, but the iOS version is excellent - if you like turn-based tile strategy games. The AI is good and I particularly love how with a bit of luck and some long-term strategy I can take a game where I'm hopelessly behind and win it. The two upgrade packs for it are good as well - particularly "inns and cathedrals".
