In college, we the occasional competition to see who could call a complete stranger and talk to them the longest on the phone. I rarely lost, and ended up with a date once.

when three way calling had just came out to our area, we would call one person, tell them to hold. Call the second person, and bridge them thru to the first. We would listen in to the conversation that persued. you called me, no you called me. They had no idea what the heck happened.
