I saw a link to this over @ Speedguide.net:

<< Notice to current America Online Users

If you are currently with America Online, please don't bother to sign up! You have been warned...

This advice will save both you and us needless frustration. We are incompatible with your computer system as screwed-up by AOL configuration software and You. In fact, a lawsuit is in the works against AOL. So be warned, NO REFUNDS or CREDITS will be given.

As a general rule, America Online users are not computer savvy or it seems, capable of the level of technical sophistication necessary to operate a computer outside of an AOL environment.

<< Remember, FlexNet does not have a technical support department. We don't have the time to baby or pamper you. We won't let you bring your computer down, for us to "work on it." No Ways. You have to be able to configure your own computer, or find a friend that can do that for you and have that friend explain what the Internet is all about and how to do stuffs.

If you are this friend, please just don't setup the user's computer, and split. What will eventually happen is this user will start calling us up, asking how to read email, or other silly things like that. There will be a lota hard feelings on both sides when we tell them to go sign up with a full-service ISP like PixiNet or Hawaii Online or LavaNet.

If fact, if we get a whiff when a user calls up that they are newbies, we automatically suggest they go sign up with someone else. While this may seem hard and cruel to you, please, PLEASE know that newbies calling for tech support, and if FlexNet relents and gives such requested tech support, will definitely "broke da shop" and cause FlexNet to go out of business.

We don't offer tech support. So please don't ask for any. We are targeting the ever-growing market of experienced Internet users.

Prodigy, they have a "real" secure order page , and appear to be ready to provide a username / login. I'll give them credit... they are honest to a level I have NEVER seen before.

Damaged sent me a link to their page last week. Yes, they really are an ISP. I wish there was a place like that around here. The only times I ever call my ISPs tech support is when I hose my box & I need the DNS & dil-up numbers again.

Their policy is a breath of fresh air compared to the company I do support for.

Nope, it's the screwed up software. Ask any tech how many times simple removing the AOHell adapters from the network control panel has fixed connection and routing problems.

I know of a Billionaire who embraced that fact...and set the course to bring these "users" into the internet world...

I have dsl also and didn't want to register for everything over again and get my address to all my friends again. Granted it is a horrible isp, but it's not my isp it's only my email account and instant messsenger so what do I care. Also that is hilarious.

The rest of it is pretty damn funny too. They sure don't want to deal with any ID10T's.

I love how honest they are. This is exactly what I want. Why isn't it available in my area. You would probably get great connections.

Funny. Never had any problem with AOL software either screwing up my computer (Now an IE5.5 update is another story) or having an ISP having issues with AOL software. The biggest issue for the AOL software is the chat module and that is simply stripped down code from AIM. Flex net may be cheap but I just went through a battlefield already with a cheap ISP that did offer tech support and I will never go through that again and I do know how to set things up. I wish windows internet connectinos were as easy to setup as my lan modem.
