Somewhat related to the thread, but I got introduced to a lot of the indie title using the humble bundle; it's a pack of indie games that you pay whatever you want, part of the money you pay gets donated to charity (if you want it to, you get to decide on the breakdown) and oftentimes it's a bundle of more popular indie titles - I think the majority of the indie games listed (like World of Goo, Braid, etc.) were in the bundle.
You have to catch it when it goes on but it's a great way to check things out; it also has steam integration for the most part so it's really handy as well.
