Fun family things to do in Atlanta?

So we are planning a family vacation at the end of May. We are staying a week in Myrtle Beach, but on the drive back home we were thinking about stopping in either Atlanta or Huntsville. If Huntsville we are going to do the whole NASA thing, but I think that might be more up my alley than the wife and kids. Probably we are going to stay a night or two in Atlanta.

My question: what fun things are there to do in Atlanta for a family (oldest being 10, youngest being 2)? We did the aquarium two years ago and I don't really want to do that again. I was thinking about taking them to the water park, but I'm not sure how well that would work with my youngest. It might could work though, I'm sure they have little kid play areas. World of Coke seems meh. I would like to tour CNN but again I don't think the kids would like that at all. Not really in to civil rights museums or anything like that either. If they have a good natural history museum that would be neat, but in my searching I didn't come across one.

Thanks. :)

Do they have escorts and street pharmaceuticals?

Also, catch a game. Maybe tour the Coke plant.

There's a science museum in atlanta too, but I forget what the name of it is. It's hands on and pretty neat.

edit: that's right, it's called scitrek :p definitely recommended.

edit: nevermind, looks like they've closed.

Welp we decided to stay 2 nights there. Six Flags White Water's opening day is the Saturday that we are there all day. I told them and they seemed excited about it. The rest of the time I think we might just hit up the mall and get some food.

On that note, what are some good places to eat in the Marietta area?

you'll like white water. it's been a long time since i've been there, but it's the best water park i've been to. 100% better than the disney water parks in florida. mostly because it doesn't feature pools with the interiors covered in 50 grit sandpaper.

If you are in Marietta just hit 75N up to Kennesaw and go to Bangkok Cabin ( 3413 Cherokee Street Kennesaw, Georgia 30144) Fantastic food, may be the best around. Go into downtown Acworth and eat at Henry's Louisiana Grill (4835 N. Main St. Acworth GA 30101) . Both of these places are minutes apart and just 2 miles or so from the Interstate. Another place to eat in Acworth is The Olde Mill ( 4271 Southside Drive,Acworth Ga 30101) .

On the plus side you can eat at any of these places and check out the historic downtown areas of both.

Peace

We were just there in December (Chick-Fil-A Bowl), we hit up the CNN center, aquarium, and World of Coke thing. All three were pretty fun.

Stone Mountain is great for family fun.

Catch a laser light show at night time there.

The World of Coke is actually pretty entertaining and worth visiting IMO.

There's the Fernbank Science museum which is also great for kids.

There's also the Bodies Exhibit going on at Atlantic station, which I saw when it was in FL and was pretty damn interesting.

Lastly there's the Georgia Renaissance Festival that's happening on the southern end of the area, which I haven't been to but will probably hit up myself later this month.
