Fun day at work today

I work at one of the big box giants while attending college (did I mention my favorite color just so happens to be Orange 😉 ) and a big wig from corporate is going to be walking the store. In theory, the stores are supposed to look like they would at a grand opening. Rarely the case. As most of you know from your own eyes, the stores aren't in the greatest conditions normally. They pull out all the stops when the big wigs come down and cram weeks worth of labor into a few days, having everyone come in.

So I volunteered to go outside with another young guy to condense pallets of manure, mulch, and all the other good stuff you find in those wonderful 40lb bags. We did most of the department and also helped out with a truck that came in with even more stuff.

Relatively hard work compared to what I'm normally doing there, but a great workout.

Hopefully I'm rewarded for that along with the myriad array of other stuff I volunteer to do come review time, but I'm not holding my breath.

Good strategy, you're replaceable.

Hopefully your work will speak for itself...maybe not now...but in the future if you are consistent.

I'm typically taken care of very well. For retail, I get a considerable wage and the raises I've gotten far exceed those of coworkers. This situation is different because management has changed quite a bit.

I worked at that same big box giant and i put in countless hours off the clock and other stuff and got fired for a ridiculous reason. Just remember, retail has the highest turn around rate. It's all about kissing ass.
