amazingly, the xfx 8800gt i ordered yesterday morning from buy.com arrived just now. i've been setting it up and all, but i noticed that i no longer see options for fullscreen video mirror (aka. theater mode for ati cards). i thought i had read that this feature is not supported in vista, but i'm surprised to not see it available in XP, which is what i run.
while i got the 8800gt to get better performance w/ tf2 and newer generations games, i need fullscreen video mirror as i currently use my pc's atsc tuner to output to my crt tv (i don't get good ntsc OTA signal, so this is a stopgap solution before i cash in w/ the government's dtv voucher program for a new set-top ATSC tuner). i use watchhdtv to display this OTA HDTV content (hauppauge's software is resource intensive and clunky). in addition to that, i also use my pc to output HD content to my tv that cannot be played on my xbox/xbmc.
are there any "hacks" or workarounds to get fullscreen video mirror to work? the lack of such a feature, when supported by cards of previous generations and by competitors' solutions, is truly a regression.
