Vehicle Tested:
2007 Dodge Nitro 4dr SUV
MSRP of Test Vehicle: 29 570 $ Price It!!

What Works:
Striking styling, practical interior design, Diddy road presence.

What Needs Work:
Conestoga wagon suspension tuning, rough engine, plastic-attack interior.

Bottom Line:
The Nitro offers the look of a pricier SUV without the cost. Unfortunately, it doesn't offer the performance or refinement.

This is a first year vehicle right? Not that, that excuses it, but the first time out is usually known for unrefinement.

After seeing what Dodge is producing these days, especially Nitro and Caliber, Chrysler being bought by China doesn't sound quite so bad. China couldn't possibly do worse, could they?

I recall the spy pics of this and it was hot. What the hell did they do to the front bumper? Looks like a decroded piece of crap.

Now you have a vehicle for drug dealers that are more budget minded than those buying Escalades.

I predict 75% of the owners of this thing will also be owners of pit bulls.

It actually looks pretty cool. It has sort of a presence. Nothing generic about that design except maybe for the back.
Wish they would work on designing better interiors though.

BTW-I think this thing looks like ass. It's just slightly more rounded than the Kleenex box Scion. Just what we need, another SUV.

The new Jeep Liberty is based on the Nitro.

But this is ridiculous "Basically, it's fairly obvious from behind the wheel that the Nitro, fundamentally, is a Jeep ? so it's logical that it's not a sharp-steering, precise-responding machine."

Since when did Jeep build cars? It's more accurate to say that the new Liberty is a Dodge compact car.

Edit: My bad, it is a truck, and based on the old Liberty. http://www.allpar.com/SUVs/dodge/nitro.html

"The Dodge Nitro features an independent front suspension and an five-link rear suspension, both new (not carried over from the Liberty). The independent front suspension gives the driver an optimum combination of ride, handling and steering, providing a greater sense of control and precision."

Then why does it pull .66g? Fvck IFS on a Jeep!!!
