I have to say that I love this car. The Saab front end is SOOOO much more asthetically pleasing than the WRX. The only thing the goofed on was the price  WAAAAAAY too much.

I hate it. A bastardization of a fine swedish car. I mean, still Volvo>Saab, but this is crap. GM is a far worse parent than Ford.

Yeah, GM can go to hell as far as I'm concerned. They never, ever think of the long view, just the quick buck, hence the fact they are producing a Trailblazer-based Saab SUV (the modern equivalent of the unlamented Cadillac Cimarron, in terms of the way they both completely bastardized marques with real tradition). What a bag of assholes they are.

The Saab 9-7 is really different though. All it has is a GM chassis. It has it's own engine, interior, etc. I've heard that it's miles ahead of GMs current SUV offerings as far as performance & handling.

I'll believe it when I see it - I don't think anyone's actually driven one. My gut tells me this is just a more-profitable Trailblazer, as opposed to an actual Saab.

You know that since the 9-2x and the 9-7 are being outsourced to Asia and America, respectively, that they're building Cadillacs at the Saab factory? What a sad sad day...

Subaru does it, why can't Saab?
I paid $22k for my WRX wagon in 03. :)
It's well worth the money and the performance really is remarkable, but you never, ever forget you're driving a cheap Japanese car. It's hard to imagine what Saab could do to add $7k worth of value to it. It's not any faster, doesn't handle any better and the looks are just OK. I bet it doesn't sell.
