Full Test: 2003 Saturn Ion

Ugly, its like they couldn't design what design looked best and mashed them together. I swear depending which way you look at the car it's three different designs.

I hate the bumper-car steering wheel, I HATE, I HATE, I HATE HATE HATE the center mounted gauge cluster, dumbest thing ever :|

I think the car is a nice image piece for Saturn, brings them up to date I guess. I've never liked them much, but if they can make a better car, good for them.

Agreed. What were they thinking!? :Q

honestly, I am fairly open when it comes to cars. but this car is freaking nasty.... in almost every single way.
the ONLY part I don't mind is the front end. it's *OK*.
the rest of the car is disgusting. esp. the interior... GM strikes again!!

It looks like a little Nissan Altima. That's my biggest complaint about it.
As for the center console time will tell if it's really a good idea or not.
Probably the cars strongest point is the 140hp torque happy ecotec engine. Considering Shinerburke outran a 3000gt with that engine in a Cavalier I'd say it's a nice engine!
Still it is kind of depressing that GM took the reins on Saturn. It's still an interesting car but knowing that it's platform is basically a Cavalier takes the "special" out of the Ions.
Oh well at least it's not as ugly as a Toyota Camry. 😛

The new Maxima looks like an 80% rip of the Ion Sedan 😀

As for the Camry comment, this and this looks 10x better than the Ion.

(damn, this thread is bringing out the hate in me today)
I hate the high window sills on the camry, the sides are way flat and dimentionless, makes the car looks way too 2-dimentional, the identical ES300 suffers this same fate. The doors are just too damn tall to look remotely nice, and the front end doesn't mesh with the car very well - however, yes, it looks better than the abomination of the Ion

OMFG! Look at the seats, that ugly ass steering wheel, the RETARDED center console, and fugly rims!!!! :disgust:

That makes no sense! I mean, who else really needs to see those gauges other than the driver?

I sat in one of those once last year. They had it displayed at the Meadows in Hartford, CT. I dont think I could get used to the center console, seems like I'd have to turn my head away from the road to look at the center console, which I doubt I'd get used to.

I am really sure that Nissan would steal from Saturn. I don't think so... co-incidence? must be. as for the Camry.. the back end screams "daewoo" it's pretty damn ugly too.
