Saw a FX35 today on the way to work. Now granted it had snow on it, so that screwed up the lines a bit. But first impression of the exterior: A sports wagon with way too much ground clearance. Also, I did not like the front grill at all. Other than that, bleh.
They really should define a new vehicle segment for these pseudo-SUVs (pre RX300 definition that is). The ones that only see off road action in the commericial on TV.

So the Master of the Obvious doesn't like crossovers.
At least Nissan/Infiniti aren't marketing their crossovers as true SUVs at all. They're essentially calling a spade a spade in their advertising. The Murano is marketed as an SUV for "adventures in on-roading" while the FX ads emphasize the speed & utility of the vehicle, but make no reference to off-road capabilities.Originally posted by: nord1899

I checked out the FX at the auto show here, it definitely has a masculine appearance and I liked the interior. I don't think I'd buy one myself, but it does combine a lot of elements into a versatile vehicle.
I think all of the preproduction units that are being tested have the V8... Infiniti probably wanted all the automotive journalists to get the fastest performance times possible.Originally posted by: tigerbait
I wish I could find more performance information on the FX35. No one seems to be testing that one at all, and at $35k, it is a lot more affordable to me.

I've seen a couple of FX45's around here but no FX35's yet, so maybe it's also possible that a large percentage of the initial production runs were FX45s. I dunno.
