Full size of New Hard Drive not recognized.

Hi,
I just got a new Western Digital Special edition 200 GB hard drive and the full size of the drive does not register. It seems to recognize the size in the BIOS, but when I try to install Windows 2000, it only registers the drive with 130 GB unpartitioned space. I've already flashed the Motherboard with the newest bios, but I still get the same thing.

My computer is custom and has an ASUS A7vPro Motherboard with a 1.3GHz Athlon. It works perfectly with my old Western Digital 80 GB Hard Drive. Let me know if you need more info.

Please Help!

Win2k requires at least SP3 and proper BIOS support before it will recognize partitions greater than 137 GB. It seems that the latest update for your BIOS already supports 48-bit addressing, so you need to correct the software side. An option would be to copy the installation files from CD to your old 80 gig drive, slipstream the SP3, and then install onto the 200 GB from the 80 GB. Read more about slipstreaming here

Awesome man! Thanks! during my research I did find out about W2K requiring SP3, but I didn't know about slipstreaming. I'll try it out. I didn't get a chance to read the article yet, but if anyone has any tips about slipstreaming that the article doesn't cover that'd be great.

Also, keep in mind that on a supposed 200GB hard drive, the real space (as reported by Windows) is "only" 186.26GB and not 200GB. Just in case you worried later about the "incorrect" size of your drive.
