Full screen DOS in a VM?

essential

Senior member
I set up a VM for a friend so he can run some old DOS progs on his Win7 64-bit machine. I can't get the progs to open up full screen though.

When I go to "properties --> screen" and set it to open at Full Screen, the attached image is what happens. It just goes quarter screen and shrinks the original resolution down.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

isnt DOS resolution limited to something around 600 x 480?

it might be, but the specific program full screens just fine outside of a VM. in Windows XP everything is normal and it full screens ... the problem only exists in the VM.

i'm sure there are dos boot discs somewhere out on the net you can download. or even dos 6 install?
not as convenient though.
dos....*shudder*
