Full moon tomorrow night

Has anyone else noticed people acting squirly? Even the cats and dogs seem to be weirded out, but maybe that's the storm.

It just seems like everyone I have talked to the past couple days has been....off. Its hard to explain.

Then there was the kitty party on the front lawn when I got home. My cats never have that many guests over. When they do have guests, they hang out in the garage or the basement. I am not sure what kind of ceremony they were doing in the front yard, but they sure ran when they saw me.

Yes, especially so. Old friends from CA, NY, Oregon, New Mexico, Germany, and England all called more or less out of the blue since the weekend.

A whole BUNCH of women suddenly winking up a storm at me on dating sites on which I have free listings but haven't contacted anyone myself in MORE than a year -- two even then joined up paid so they could e-mail me after the futile winks ran their course.

People generally a bit edgier in stores and on the street.

SERIOUSLY non-standard stuff.

There are a number of reasons why a full moon could cause an uptick in perceived weirdness, from increased light at night to confirmation bias.

Point is, it's not something magical.

Actually, this is a fairly commonly held belief, even amongst medical professionals. I've certainly heard it before.

But yeah, the facts don't totally bear it out.

Yeah, I hear you. It's a very common belief in both professions. However, as jagec pointed out (in a nice link), more rigorous studies generally do not support this view. So mentioned "confirmation bias." I think that's the real phenomenon here.

Still, dayum! ALL those old but geopraphically distant friends calling me over a four day period? I don't necessarily hear from ALL of them in any one 6 month period!

As for the women . . . Spring? <shrug> Sometimes clusters of events just happen, I guess. We are hardwired to look for connections and explanations in the events we experience. Hence, superstition.
