Full install from Win98 Upgrade?

I have "obtianed" an upgrade cd and would like to do a fresh install on a new computer. Problem is that I have one of the PacBell computers that came preloaded with Win95 and do not have verification media.
Any suggestions.

You can just obtain a different serial number, right? Or am I too high on life..?

I know it worked that way for all of the Office apps. My friends would acquire the upgrade version of Office 97 and then just put 1112-111111 and it would work swell - without having a previous version of Office on the machine. Does the same hold true for Windows?

Jsm:

Thats not the problem razorbacks is having. The problem is that MS requires proof of the previous operating system when using a Win98 Upgrade CD install. In other words he needs the win95cd. Maybe. I have win98SE upgrade CD and it never asks for proof of previous OS.

How old is that computer? Is it used or always yours? PacBell may be of no help due to the fact they stopped making PCs. PacBell is really NEC.

I am not sure what your solution should be, but shouldn't it detect the previous win95 install as proof?

I did this on my computer for win98se, it did ask for the 95 disk and ser#. I could not find a way around it. So I think you will need at least and older ver. of windows, but it did install from win98se.
Don't know if that helps!!!😉
