Hello. I'm looking to use a hardware encrypted disk on a desktop system. From what I understand the FDE drive requires the bios to support the "ATA Security Feature Set" or an "ATA Password". This will allow the system to prompt the user for a password immediately upon boot, and no data can be accessed until the correct password is entered. I've noticed virtually every laptop motherboard supports this but I cannot find any desktop motherboard that references this feature. Is anyone aware of a desktop board that supports this?

It is a curious disparity. Especially with SSDs that also support ATA password/FDE.
I would likewise be interested in this info.
