Full 400GB not showing up w/ WinXP install

I just built a comp tonight and installed WinXP Pro (no SP1 or SP2) so the install only recognized 128GB of my 400GB Seagate SATA drive. After setting up the OS and installing a myriad of updates including SP1 and SP2 windows is still not recognizing the drive as 400GB. what do i need to do? I thought post installation of the SP's the drive would be fully recognized.

Nope. If you format a drive with XP RTM (not SP1 or SP2), you'll get the results you did. Updating to SP1 or SP2 doesn't fix the problem. You:
a) Have to use a 3rd-party disk management program to expand the boot partition
or
b) You have to slipstream your XP Install CD to at least SP1 and then re-install Windows XP
or
c) Live with that 127GB system partition and add a second (or more) partitions to use up the rest of the 400GB hard drive.

Just like RebateMonger advised, you need to install with a disk that has Sp1 (or Sp2) in it.

On another note, when updating the OS, you dont have to do Sp1 and then Sp2, just Sp2.
