I bought this bargain used notebook off ebay. I wasn't expecting to get Wi-Fi.
However, it appears, that the computer is Wi-Fi equipped, with an Intel WM3945ABG card, and suitable integrated antenna.
The problem is that the Wi-Fi doesn't work. The Wi-Fi indicator LED never comes on, regardless of the Wi-Fi enable switch position, and the card is not detected in device manager (and manually installing the drivers doesn't work because they can't detect the hardware).
Are there any known problems that could cause this? Could this be faulty card? (In which case, I might venture $10 on a new card), or should I be looking elsewhere (faulty motherboard, or switch?)
