hi everyone, i posted few weeks back about getting a notebook...but i still cant make up my mind yet...i'm suppose to get this Compaq Presario 700 series notebook...but while i was checking out the compaq forum...i read that lots of users complained about heat problem and auto shutdown...so i decided to look elsewhere and i've come across this Fujitsu notebook (LifeBook C-6661)...the budget fits well.....it's used mainly for college works...ie.applications, programming, web surfing and i hope it's ok to do some light gaming....
i hope the P3 1.2ghz-m has more than enough juice for all those stuffs....

oh...about this integrated graphics on the Intel 830MG chipset, what kinda performance can i expect from it ? urm...TNT2 ? ATI Rage pro ?
it's stated there 'Integrated VGA (max. 48MB w/IDMS) '....what does it mean ? shared mem up to 48mb ? what's this IDMS ?
the only thing i dont really like about this notebook is the speakers...wouldnt expect much from it...

and finally...does Fujitsu make good notebooks ? i heard they are made in Japan .... :)
well...just wanna get some of your opinons on this ... :)

BTW I think you are making an exellent choice by getting a P3 CPU, because in my opinion P4s are too premature in the notebook market. They use too much power and battery life. Also few people can use that kind of processing power anyway unless you start some serious gamming on it, and who plays games on a laptop? I am very happy with my P3 600 and I do all the web surfing, typing, programming etc I need on it, but I don't even bother with the games because I know it wont compare to my Radeon 8500 in my desktop.

Ok well the Intel 830MG graphics is integrated obviously, also it uses shared memory which probbably what the 48mb max thing is. As far as performance its not that impressive you can expect performance between a TNT2 and a GF256. You can pull of quake 3 fairly with the fps but it dosen't look that nice. Honestly there isn't many good graphics chips for laptops and certainly none that is cheap.

Yes Fujitsus are made in Japan but what isn't these days?

A p3 1.3 should be sufficient for almost anything to date. But I don't know much about Fuji laptops. Personally I would only go with Toshiba or maybe Dell.
