HE FUJITSU LIFEBOOK S2000 was introduced today, featuring the AMD Turion 64 mobile chip and claiming to provide decent performance for 32-bit and 64-bit applications as well as enhanced virus protection.
The Lifebook weighs in at about four pounds and has up to ten hours of battery life, as well as a meaty 100 GB hard drive and a 13.3 Crystal View XGA display. It's also equipped for wireless LAN with an optional Atheros Super AG, and comes with a dual-layer multi-format DVD writer.
The LifeBook, which is available through Fujitsu's website, costs between $1,299 and $1,699 and is specifically marketed towards students at an affordable price, according to Fujitsu.
"With a new 64-bit processor optimised for mobility, coupled with the brilliant Fujitsu Crystal View display and multi-media capabilities, the Fujitsu LifeBook s2000 notebook packs superior power and full-features into a surprisingly thin and light form-factor," said Fujitsu's Paul Moore. They're an enthusiastic bunch over at Fujitsu. µ
