so i just installed rise of nations rise of legend, it keeps on telling me that my laptop doesnt meet the 1.4ghz requirement, even after i have installed notebook hardware control and set everything on max performance. what's the deal?

i got a fujitsu s2110 laptop, suppose to have the AMD Turion MT-32 chip running at 1.80 ghz. but for some reason when i look at system info, the max speed that it displays 795 mhz. and then i test it with this third party cpu speed tester, and the max speed i got from that was ~1.5 ghz. did i get cheated? should i send it back?

I think it has to do with your power settings, my laptop is a 1.2 and curently shows 251 right now. can anyone confirm this is normal behavior?

Lol. Yes, it's normal behavior, Fujitstu didn't stole your megahurts.. Laptops throttle down their CPUs to save power and reduce heat, and throttle them up when you need the speed.. You need to change your power management settings to run it at 100% speed all the time, but why would you do that? 800MHz is more then enough for general browsing and stuff like that. Go find a copy of prime95, fire it up, then check your CPUID program, and it'll show your your max speed. Keep in mind, it may never reach 100% on battery unless you force it.

SpeedswitchXP is a good program to change your power management settings.

Laptop noobs.

Only "noobs" recommend SpeedSwitchXP

OP, don't worry: this is a common misconception. You can't use the Windows system control panel to check clockspeed, it doesn't report it correctly. Rest assured if your Power profile is set to "Portable/Laptop" it is dynamically varying the clock speed to meet the demand.

To view this and have overall much better control of your laptop, I highly recommend you downloading Notebook Hardware Control.

NHC is far too complicated for just simple power management. SpeedswitchXP is far superior and more efficient.

since i am using an amd chip, i downloaded a program called amd clock to see, it reports 1.8 ghz. and i guess that's the true number since i got the program off the amd site, and that its legit.
