Fuji Taiyo Yuden vs. TDK Taiyo Yuden (differences?)

I am wondering if anyone else has run across the situation I have. Have been burning videos in the VCD format using both Fuji and TDK Taiyo Yuden cdr discs. When I play them in my stereo system DVD player (which is supposed to accept VCD but shaky on CDRs) I find the TDK discs immediately start playing. When using the Fujis, the player will show disc error. If I continue to open and close the tray the player eventually starts the video, and the playback is fine. I have tested both the Fuji and TDK, and both are TYs. My dubbing and burning settings are identical for both brands. Any idea as to why they are treated diffently by the DVD player?😕
