Fuji PLUS 19'' Monitor problem

So i have a Fuji PLUS 19'' Monitor and i have a dual screen set up with my HP laptop. Whenever i play avi movies on my monitor the movie plays really dark. Everything else on the monitor is more than bright enough, but the video playback is just really dark. The videos play fine on my laptop's screen but is darker on my monitor...any ideas?

My laptop's video card:
ATI Mobility RADEON 9600 Series

Check the settings in the DVD playback software...
You should be able to adjust brightness.....
