thanks for the link spikemansd

I am not too familiar with digital cameras, and i was wondering if it was possible to develop pictures taken by a digital camera?

Well people lets get in on this deal and lower the price on this sucker.:)

I know one of my nearby camera store (Ritzcamera, Wolf?) used to. I used to get ads with a coupon for developing digital camera pictures (just bring in your pictures on disk or on your media I not sure which). Check some of the chain photography stores and see if you can find one that will. Good luck!

No "developing" needed. That's the beauty of a digital camera. Buy a HP 900 series printer and print out 8x10's instantly and be amazed at how good they look.

I put my order and brought it down to $216.95.

For those who cannot make it to the cycle or don't want to wait for Pointclick to issue the check, Cameraworld is selling the very same camera for $195.95.

Awesome camera for an awesome price! I've had mine since February and it's great. Definately get a $5 soft leather case from Buy.com and a USB card reader, and grab a 32mb Smartmedia card if you can :)

This is an excellent camera. I would also recommend the USB reader, as the serial interface that it ships with is SLOOOOW. Also grab the 32MB SmartMedia.

At Onvia they've got a 16K Smartmedia card for $28.something. I ordered it, it turns out to be a Kingston, and it works great in my MX-1200. While you're at Onvia, you can order the case for $4.99. Remember to do the pointclick thing for 10% off.

I saw somewhere that the Fuji MX-1200 does take 64mb cards, but better double-check to be sure.

Barron: I don't know if the free smartmedia reader offer is still going on... but I got my mx-1200 in December, '99 and still haven't received my reader. Fuji claims some problem with getting a manufacturer in the large quantity they need. Pain, but they have been cool about it. Have already sent me a CD with some cool photo software on it, and should be sending me a 16mb smartmedia for free because it has been taking so long. I don't think that offer is still standing, but this is a good deal even without an offer like that. I still say you can't beat this camera for the price.

jrichrds: it doesn't need autofocus, it's a fixed focus camera. Takes clear pictures at a variety of focal lengths. Had mine for 7 months, love it.

Just called Fuji, the camera DOES take 64mb Smartmedia cards. whoohoo, I can share the card b/t my rio 500 and my digicam. I'm going to order that camera right now, but from staples for $155. Pricematch the camera at staples from cameraworld's price of $194.99 and use $40 off $150 coupon =) Thanks,

Girdogg

girdogg: i got a 32 mb card for my rio300 with the same intention of mind, using it for both the rio and my MX-1200. But, after the rio formatted it, the camera won't accept it, no matter what I do. Not sure if the same would happen if i formatted it with the camera first. But just be aware that you may not be able to share between a RIO and the MX-1200.

RIO has some beta software that is supposed to reformat the card back to smartmedia specs. I have never tried it because I don't own a digital camera. Look at the bottom of the page for the software: http://www.s3.com/customer_caretechnical_supportupdatessoftwareRioRIO_PMP300.htm
Also, I took a card out of my RIO 300 and plugged it into my Nomad II which reformatted the card as well, and it works just fine in my Nomad after being reformatted. Let me know if the reformat software works.

ugh, lame shipping and tax. After everything was said and done with staples.com it came up to $179.01 for me. Two previous times when I pricematched, the CSR didnt' take shipping charges into account, but I guess you can only get lucky so many times. still, I don't have to wait for the rebate :) whoohoo. your mileage may vary.

anyone else encounter problems sharing media b/t a digicam and rio?

Thanks, Girdogg
