Fuji FinePix4900 4.3 MP Digital Cam w/6x Optical Zoom $477.00

Keep in mind that this camera uses a proprietary recharable battery that retails around $60. Other than that, it's a very good camera. Consider the Olympus 2100uz for around the same price for a 10x zoom.

Before I ended up spending the money i had saved for a digital camera on rent I was looking pretty hard at this model. Potential buyers should take note of the Fuji SpuerCCD, which arranges the sensor pixels in a different manner than usual and results in the 4.3mpix resolution being an interpolated one; the 'native' resolution is less than 3mpix. all the major digicam sites have reviews of this model, it's big brother the 6900Z, and their cousins, the 4800Z and 6800Z.

Nothing personal,

This is an OLD, 2MP model that interpolates the 4MP image. For $500 you can do WAY freakin better.

For $50 more you are in Canon G1 land with amex blue.

Drop another hundred or so and you are in Canon G2 / Nikon CP5000 territory with a AMEX blue card.

I have to second the call on the 2100UZ... It's great! Not only is it 10X but has a stabelizer & a 32 MEG buffer.

Got it from compusa for 499 + and extra 30 dollars for a 3 year 'drop warranty'...

If you absolutely have to get this camera, PM it at Staples to get an additional $33 off for the 15% price difference.
