So I just bought a fuji finepix f50 camera.

The batter charger is external, so you have to take the batter out to charge. It's really annoying, but everytime you take the battery out, all the settings go back to default. Is there some other smaller battery that might need changed in order to preserve these settings....

Thanks all.

Assuming that the battery takes a few hours to charge, it's not surprising that the camera would lose any customized settings while the battery is out of the camera. Most cameras have a small internal battery that will let the camera hold the settings for a short time while main batteries are changed, but they usually don't last for very long.

that's weird though, i take my batteries out of my old Canon SD110 and SD600 to recharge, they never lose any settting configs though.

OP, maybe that internal battery is dead-on-arrival? you wanna call/email Fuji for answers, and possibly an RMA.

hey, OP, I just found something.

From the User Manual (page 22):

The confirmation screen [ED: i guess it meant the "Setting" Screen] appears when the battery is removed and the camera has been left unused for a long period. Keep the charged battery inside fof the camera to retain the camera settings. Once a charged battery is installed for 4 days, the settings will be retained for roughly 7 days, even if the battery is removed.

Sweet!!! I guess the camera was just too new, since I really JUST bought it.

Thanks for your help and for doing the research I should have done ;)
