ok this is another one that relies on that fuji rebate, which is still up for debate i guess. mercata has it currently at 255$ apply 20% of mercata dollars which gets it down to 204$. take the msn passport 20% which drops it down to 163$. not a bad deal in itself, if the fuji rebate works takes it to a final price of 113$ and about 7$ shipping. mercata says the rebate comes with the camera, so it's an official rebate. i see no way how fuji could refuse an origonal rebate form. you cant offer a rebate and then when someone buys the product say oops no good. if you're willing to put up with a possible hassle it's a could be killer deal.

Unsickle - Hey I wanted to poop on this thread first :D

This deal bites, I just got off the phone with FujiFilm headquarters 1-800-800-3854 option 1, who confirmed our worst nightmare. He said the rebate is only valid if you purchased the Fuju Finepix 1400 on or before 11/09/2000. He is already aware of Shop4Digital and Amazon still having the rebate forms but even though the rebate forms say they expire 01/31/2000 it does not matter. Fuji will ___NOT HONOR____ your rebate request if you did not purchase the Fuji Finepix 1400 on or before 11/09/2000. This is because of "massive price roll backs", which is a bunch of total BS if you ask me. Come on let's sue 'em! (j/k)

I ordered mine from mercata last week and received it on Monday. There was an original rebate form in the box. I called the number on there and talked with a CSR and she said they would only honor the original form that comes in the box. If they are selling for this low at mercata now, I am sure the rebate is not in the box anymore. That is still a good deal on that camera without the rebate. Add ebates and get an extra 5% off (this is figured in before the 20% passport is deducted!). Hope this helps.

I'm still wondering about this rebate. There is no language on the rebate form that mentions anything about Fuji reserving the right to change promotion details... I realize that they can pull the rebate form from the site, but it still seems feasible that they could bend if you press 'em. Suppose I'll put a call in as well.

Hoss.

Update: Just called the promotional info line. "As long as you have a rebate form you can send it in . . . a downloaded one is fine."

I realize that she might not be "in the know" about any changes, but that's straight from the horses mouth.

I got my camera from Mercata today (closed 11/22), no rebate in the box. I am going to call them about this tomorrow, when I bought it there was still the rebate offer on the page, I have printouts. Did anyone get the rebate in the box recently? Any new information about how they are going to handle the rebate?

In last weeks Staples add they had this camera on sale and mention the rebate. (I already bought this camera about four weeks ago). I was in the store and they had several rebate forms for people to take. Unfortionately, I had already mailed in my rebate with a form I printed out. I grabbed a few just in case they give me trouble, In that case I can mail one of those in... Not sure if that will work, but worth a try for $50. I have lost a lot of respect for Fuji over this crap!

Thanks

No Problem, tck. Don't worry about the Paypal though, as I would consider this my duty since Fuji is trying to pull this. If they don't have one, or if you don't feel like driving by, just send your address to me (my email is in my profile). I will be leaving for the weekend at about 2 pm tomorrow (cst), so try to let me know before then if you need it quick.

tck sorry to hear, i spoke with michael and john at mercata about this. i told them about fuji and they called and verified that the rebate was no longer valid. mercata wasn't aware of this and john called me back and told me they were pulling the rebate off the page. sounds like you got in on the first powerbuy when the rebate was still up. they probably pulled all the rebate forms without knowing that one powerbuy still had the rebate on the page. let us know what happens.

I bought the camera for $265 during the original deal and I'm waiting on the $50.00 rebate.

It's not a bad camera at all, especially if you already had a camera that didn't have zoom and were frustrated like me. If they screw you on the rebate, you can bitch at everyone in the world at Fuji America until they give it to you. I'm not worried about mine and it's not my "worst nightmare".

If they screw with you, you screw with them. The American way.

j00, I will call them tomorrow, will see if I can get the form first. Question is, who is to blame? Fuji for sure, but as long as Mercata posted the rebate they are responsible for providing the rebate form, otherwise the shippment is incomplete. I already bought a 32MB smartmedia card, so return is not the best optin. The price is not bad even without the rebate, but (1) it is a question of principle and (2) I wanted a cheap camera, otherwise I could have been gone for one of the deals on a 2.1MP cameras.

gmccall, I passed by Staples today and picked up the rebate form, so you don't need to send one. Thanks for the offer.
I will now call Fuji, will let you know what they say.

Thanks

Glad you now have one, tck. Let us know what the people at Fuji say. I'm expecting the worst but hoping for the best... ;)

The promotion line will tell you to send in the rebate form. That's what I'll be doing -after- I make copies.

Is this still the cheapest place to get this camera? I am waiting to find it somewhere for around $200 before rebates...

I called the promotion line and the person I spoke to said the rebate expired on 11/09, the stores were informed ... bla, bla, bla. I guess it depends to whom you speak. I will still send the rebate in - I bought the camera on the Blue card and have 60 days to price-match or 90 days to return. Nevertheless I thing one should find somebody up the chain at Fuji to complaine to.

Fuji insists they are not honoring the rebate, Mercata insists they will. I would love to get the two of them on a conference call and listen to the debate. I don't think it would be too difficult, both of them answer with a real person in under 3 minutes. I need to do it from my friends house where he has two lines. I recieved my rebate form from Mercata today via US mail. Since I recieved it via US mail and I am sending it to Fuji via (certified) US mail there would seem to be a way to get them to pony up the money when faced with the acusation of MAIL FRAUD. My wife works for the postal service and they take mail fraud very seriously! Copy and Document everything. Save the envelopes with the postmarks etc.

unfortunately both the mercata $ and the msn passport deal has expired for mercata. there are several other places still accepting the msn passport discount. poke around the other threads and there should be a list or a link.
