Fuji Finepix 1400 and 128 smart media

The booklet specifically states that it will handle 64mb smart media, but doesn't say it can't take 128mb ones. I hoping against the odds that I can actually use 128mb cards with it, I fail to see the difference between a 4,8,16,64 and 128 other than free space (with 128 being the only one not accepted) thanks

Since the hardware to read a Smartmedia card is on the device rather than the card (as it is with ComapctFlash) your Smartmedia device can usually only read up to the capacity that was around when they built the controler into the camera. However, it may support it, or there may be a firmware upgrade to allow it to support it. I have a Nomad II and I'm still waiting for a firmware upgrade that allows it to use 128MB Smartmedia.
