I just ordered an f40fd since it was just so cheap and the reviews pretty decent. I didn't realize until I read an amazon review that the camera does not have image stabilization - is this a deal killer?

The item hasn't shipped yet so I can just buy a lumix for a few bucks more.

image stabilization is overrated.

edit: that is, in good light it really isn't that useful and in bad light your subject is probably going to move anyway.

Just got mine in the mail - excellent build quality for the money. A metal camera for $75?!?

Charging the battery now and look forward to taking some photos tonight

I don't think its THAT over rated. Many photos are of stationary subjects ie: food in a low light restaurant, etc.

even then i'd still be looking for something to brace the camera against.
