Sorry if this has been discussed to death, short on time.
Gonna take a road trip, about 6-7 hours drive. My car is a Civic about 6 years old, gave it oil change recently and gonna wash and wax before i go. Not many miles, about 40k but since its driven so little, i'm sure theres some carbon buildup.

anyway, i was curious of opinions on fuel treatments. i'm sure i don't need it but since i'm goin on a trip. Being skeptical, i decided to just buy some cheap stuff. $1.72
super gas treatment, improves mileage and cleans engine it says. If its a waste i'm not out much but just thought i'd get a few opinions before i go on tuesday.

the only real concern of mine is i have 2 tires that are still factory. Tread is still great on them though, so i never bothered to change them.
This is actually my first road trip in this car btw. its rarely driven and never left far from town but runs awesome so i can't think of anything i should probably do to it that i havnt done.

if it's cheap I wouldn't put it in my engine
get something real or don't at all
at 40k you don't need it would be my guess. I had a car at 200k and used fuel injector cleaner, treatment, all that stuff, no difference

they must cause the guy i know that hauls fuel told me he stops at shell and then goes to marathon..etc. i was told the additives are the same, just each call them something different.

i don't see no reason for him to lie, but whatever, i'm not gonna debate it cause i really don't care.

Tankers can have separate compartments. The additive package is usually done when loading the tanker truck.

The point remains. Stick with a quality fuel supplier, and you'll get all the additives you need.

Don't add anything to your fuel unless you have some symptom that needs to addressed.

The only time i add fuel additives is when im running a car with the old style injectors and im forced to run ethanol blended fuels. Ethenol will damage the old style injectors and cause fuel leaks and major headaches and most quality fuel treatments will prolong the lifespan of the old injectors when running ethanol blends.

Same pipeline, but not the same tanker truck.

They don't have the same additive packages...

And aren't stored in the same gas station underground tanks, which can collect sediment as they age.

It's nearly impossible to control all that goes into one's gas tank.

Got the car ready to go tomorrow, aired up the tires...etc and when i took it to the car wash, i'll be damned if the sprayer didnt take off a 2 inch section of the paint on my front bumper. dunno why the paint got weak there but it just sprayed off and can see the grey bumper now. kinda sucks.
