My car is getting high on the miles (120k) and I'd like to know what you guys have used in the past to clean carbon deposits and fuel injectors. I go look on the shelf at the autoparts place and there are dozens of products and I'm not quite sure which one to get.. any recommendations on products that have worked for you?

I completely agree with Zen

Chevron Techron does the trick.

isn't this already included in their gas? because i regularly use chevron gas (75% of the time). is the additive alot stronger and better than just using the gas?

Just run a few tanks of the highest octane gas you can buy through your engine. That will do just as much good as any of the additives.

You'd have to ask Chevron directly about this, but it's safe to say that Techron is a good deal more concentrated than the additives in the gasoline. You're not going to hurt anything by running Techron through the fuel system though. I'd recommend doing it.

run a fuel system cleaner. my car has 245,000km on it and i like to rev it into the yellow-line which seems to do the same job at burning up everything in there ;)

Nope. Far less concentrated than an additive. Premium gasoline is formulated such that it is supposed to leave a minimum of residue, but gasoline alone is not designed to do any fuel system cleaning.

Nope, bad info. High octane gas does not have any more additives or any special cleaning properties as compared to 87 octane. All it would do is mess up your cars computerized settings by switching back and forth.

All gas today has additives in it. It is pretty rare to get deposits on cars that get driven a fairly long distance regularly. Daily short trips can cause deposits to build up.

If it makes you feel better to add some to your gas, Chevron Techron has the best reputation that I know of.

or....if you wanna really clean them..and know they're clean then just get yourself a can of carburator cleaner, remove your fuel injectors, and spray the can thru the injector with the red straw. if you see a nice wide consistent stream then you're set... it really isn't that hard.

This gentleman doesn't even know which injector cleaner to purchase, and you're telling him to remove the injectors and clean them by hand? Are you always this helpful when people ask you questions?

Fuel additives are a waste of money. They do nothing. It is well documented in magazines such as Consumer Reports.

Try a can of BG 44K and drive it 100 miles... If that doesnt work have the injectors cleaned professionally, and get a tuneup while you are at it if its been awhile.
