He must be running that card in quiet mode because his fan is only reporting 20-25%. Of course, he didn't have 'max value' selected, but 20% is crazy low for a gpu fan. Reason I say that as well is because his max temps are different than what has been reported in 'uber' mode.

Looks like the fan is going up, but the image is so pixilated I can't read the text but the graph in GPUz/MSI is clearly showing a hump.

Maybe 48% at stock, and the same overclocked. Though the test durations are extremely short so I wouldn't read much into it. (This isn't to say it will be loud)

Nice.

So stock ?

And overclocked ?

It's a beast.

Can you help me out here? I'm trying to see how this compares to dual 670 performance, or 690 performance. If this card is faster than two 670s, i'll probably actually buy one. But if its not, i'll just play BF4 on medium and wait for Haswell-E and Maxwell and do a complete rebuild all at once.

Highly doubt it's faster than SLI 670s unless VRAM comes into play, and that isn't going to be the case at 1080p. Unless future games use way more VRAM, which is possible but I don't know.

Anyway, we'll know soon enough in 12 hours. IF that is when the NDA lifts.

Would be slower for sure. Not going to see a single card faster than 670 SLI until 20nm

There is a 670SLI result with the same CPU. Pay attention to the graphics score. 670SLI is about 20% faster.

Ah, thanks for the info. I'll have to wait for BF4 to actually come out and try it to see if the Vram causes any issues. I think lowering only the texture quality could probably help with that. Then again, 670sli might not even have the grunt to provide the frames I'd like. Waiting sucks!

So this launch will have cards on shelves, custom cards available, waterblocks available and some people already got their cards and seems like reviewers have had ample time with the cards too.

Not really a paper launch hey.

Pretty hard to get around the entire preorder flop that started on october 3rd. Nomatter how much you love the company.

It is simply one of the worst launches PR wise. AMD got a good card, and instead of getting it out the door. They thought to ride the hype instead just like with mantle and trueaudio. But hypes always backfires...

Ah, thanks for the info.

To add to that, I get 7500 GPU score with my 7950s at 1100/1500.

3DMark favors AMD, 3DMark11 favors Nvidia.

Games go both ways, but with BF4 I think you'll have to wait for Mantle before you decide.

Edit: You have an x6 if I recall correctly, so you'll want to be careful to look for performance gains from rendering and not from cpu bottlenecks.

What are the dimensions of the 290x? I can't seem to search anything that answers weather it would fit in my case.

Probably the usual 11". That link earlier to the waterblocks from EK probably will give you dimensions if they have the waterblock schematics up on the site already.

You mean 11½"?

Looking on Newegg, some custom 280X are even over 12".

Yes, my reading of Roy@AMD's twitter posts is they didn't pre-arrange it with US retailers and those retailers weren't setup for an unpriced refundable pre-order. Most non-US retailers seemed to handle it fine though, not that it matters for people in US.

How many places in the world can you even preorder it? And of those, how many without getting some placeholder price that any payment ticket will reflect?

Handfuld of places?

WCCFTech say the price will be $649 if you include Tax...
That would be a more likely price. $549 doesn`t sound right at all.

So AMD fans are actually rich then right? ^_^

$549 would be a great price and I hope it's true. However, I'm sure they can charge $649 and still sell it.

Seems like everywhere in world. Except Africa. Most of Europe and Asia had them for pre-order on the day AMD said they would be up. The US retailers seemed to have been the only ones with issues. but I'm sure you will blame AMD even the rest the word had everything go smoothly.

Yes, maybe it is partly AMD's fault that US retailers didn't have the cards up for pre-order. But that seems suspect if the rest of world had everything go smoothly.

What exactly is a handful of places? Is most of Europe and most of Asia + The top system builders a handful?

Based on what? The 550-600 7970 did poorly, is AMD assuming the price hike shock is over now and hiking it further will be fine?

Personally I think when we're discussing prices companies can get away with, it's Apples and Oranges when it comes to Intel/AMD and Nvidia/AMD.

There are 2 places in europe from what I have seen. So maybe you could list some of the rest?

I mean, with that devotion to a company you must sure know some. Specially when they are "everywhere".

Warning issued for inflammatory language.
