So I'm stopped and yielding to traffic on a right hand turn into an access road. To clarify that, I'm on Heubner, and going to turn right onto the access road for IH10. While I'm waiting some tard rear ends me. Some out of towner hispanic with an expired license, no insurance, and driving his sisters car. Luckily, there was no where he could go to do a hit and run because he would either have to plow further through me or back up into the people behind him. He gets out and says, "Oh look, there's no damage." As his car is wedged up against mine.

I call the cops after finding out he has no insurance card on him and seeing his license. I've been burned before and had other family members burned by these ghetto hispanics that can't drive around here. Just incase people ask, I'm not calling all hispanics ghettos, just the ones that ARE. There's a frikking reason why Texas has a nasty insurance rate and it's because of all the uninsured motorists.

Cop shows up, he finally backs his car away from mine and ohh look, dents and a crack in my new bumper. Unfortunately for me, when the guy asked me originally if I was alright I said i was fine, but now my neck is actually hurting a bit. Nothing major, like a minor pull but I'm not sure if I tried to say something now it would be believed.

Oh well, I'm pissed. I just hope I can get enough money out of him to replace my bumper. What an jackarse. Argh.

EDIT, going to bed and hoping my neck doesn't hurt worse in the morning.

Dang Texans and their speeding... and recklessness (not calling em out, I lived there for 2 months...)

I had a garbage truck go by driving 80 mph in a 60 mph freeway, and everyone usually speeds over the limit anyways...
Lots of accident there heh...
GL with getting your car fixed.

Sounds like a case for Larry H Parker.

Truthfully, you should have uninsured motorist coverage.

Conversely, if it was the other way around - some of these jerks would go after all that you have, including your personal property, salary, savings, and all your assets. So please make sure that you have enough insurance to cover your butt in case of an accident.

If he can't pay it, get him to give you his car, sell it and get a new bumper. Also rub your neck after a hot shower before going to bed.

Actually, its common for aches and pains to not be noticed until the next day and sometimes days later.

That, and you don't have uninsured motorist? Get your insurance to pay and then they'll go after the guy for you. Simple.

I've started to notice lately that the majority of accidents I see are due to or involve uninsured drivers. I think that driving without insurance nowadays should be mandatory jail time if caught. I personally know four people hit by these bastards in the past two years and it ended up screwing three of them over bigtime. One was a hit and run and the other two might as well have been.

sorry humblepie.. this was funny...

joking aside.. sorry to hear about the accident. it's amazing how many accidents I see every day that are narrowly avoided. if you think Texans drive badly, wait til it rains - alot of us think we can still do 80 on the highways.

Some of us can still drive 80/90 in the rain.

AHHH! Your poor RX8. :(

Actually I think you can say your neck hurts, up to a certain amount of time, because that type of injury doesn't always manifest itself right away.

Screw jail time for uninsured motorists. Our jails are already overcrowded, and all they'd learn there is how much the system sucks.

I vote for public flogging. Televised during prime time. Then parents can have their kids watch it, and tell them they'll get that if they act up too much!! ;)

no, even better. the flogging could be taped and made into geico style commercials, except the person did not save a bunch of money on their car insurance.

Okay, well, I woke up, neck and upper back between my shoulders is a bit stiff but I don't think it's anything major. I got a nice imprint of his license plate on my rear bumper. You can see like 3 of the letters very clearly as they cracked the vinyl there. If you were walking by and not looking, you wouldn't notice with a cursory glance.

As for uninsured motorist coverage... uhh yah. I'm still making payments on my car and every lending facility I know is going to force you to have full coverage which includes uninsured motorist coverage. Also, liability is required by law in the state of Texas.

As for going off uninsured motorists coverage... are you nuts???? First off, there's this thing we people in the real world like to call a deductable. Which means, a little bit of money comes out of my pocket first before it ever comes from the insurance. Mine's not high at $200 but the difference off a $200 deductable for me and a zero deductable on my car is a difference of paying $580 every six months or paying $840. So yah. Going from $200 to $500 deductable was a difference of $570 to $580 or somethng like that hence why I still have. Furthermore, if I make a claim on my insurance that is a ding on my insurance and my rates go up. If I go after the guy because, and I know this might be a hard concept but follow along with your best, it was HIS FAULT then I don't pay crap out of pocket or get dinged on my insurance rates.

Sorry, still pissed, a little sleep hasn't cured that.

In before the LOL RX8'S ARE SLOW MY COUSIN'S CIVIC RUNS 11s crowd gets here....

Seriously, something needs to be done about illegals/immigrants driving around with no licenses or insurance. It's getting to be a big problem in the Midwest too.

Sorry to hear about your beautiful car. I just got a new one myself (Legacy GT Limited, thanks for asking) and I live in fear of that exact scenario. Hopefully your insurance company will come through for you and in a few weeks you won't even be able to tell it happened.

the fact that you got hit sucks... my wife was teaching her dad to drive and he nicked a new Lexus sedan ... not enough to claim insurance (which she had) - not exactly sure why not... but anyway there was a mark on the guy's car. I feel for him... brand new... scratched.

At least you'll get yours completely replaced with some insurance money... most likely.

I remember when I got rear ended one month after getting my (then) new 91 Civic DX. I was so happy because it was my first new car and could get a loan without my dad as a cosigner.

I was also yielding to traffic while trying to turn right. I actually could hear the screeching tires. While they were screeching, I was praying "Please, please, please (thud), #$#*%##$*#$*#".

Thankfully, he was a driver with good insurance and, other than that moment, a good driving record.
