Hi,

Does anyone here know where I can get a ftp program to host my own ftp? Example, if I hosted my own ftp, the address will say ftp://myipaddress.

I had a program before but I lost it =[ and dont know what the name is.

1. You need an FTP server program to be set on your Hosting computer.

Here you can download free ftp program.

GuildFTP

Here is setting instructions.

GuildFTPd Getting Started.

2. If your IP is dynamic you need a service to point the Internet to your host computer.

Some of these services are free and they will provide you with their program that notifies their server your current IP.

Example: http://zonedit.com/

If you want to do a Good Job and understand all the issues involved the following site will provide you with good info.

How to run a Site from home here: DSL/Cable Web Server.

I'll second GuildFTP. I thought it was hard to set up in the past but after reading instructions and actually having patience with it, I got it up and working in no time at all. You can also use DynDNS to "translate" your IP address into a web address that you can remember. Hope this helps.

I also recomend Bullet FTP (they also have a client) it is very good and somewhat easy to set up a basic config, but has alot of options as well, group policy, bandwidth throttling and such.
