I am currently trying to open an FTP server for my friends to share their files. They are able to connect and log in, but that can't open a data connection. On my part, I keep getting an error of

ICS: Removed Port Mapping: ICS:1070
425 Cannot open data connection (10060)

and on theirs they get

Connection closed. Server timeout.
ICS: Removed Port Mapping: ICS:1070
425 Cannot open data connection (10060).

I am using the trial version of BulletProof FTP Server

can anyone please inform me of what is going wrong? I am running Sygate, and am using port 9999. I have forwarded the port, and told Sygate to allow the program to access the network. Once again, they are able to connect and long in, but then they get the error and can't see any files.

If you're using passive, you'll need to open up to 50 ports and specify to your ftp server which ports to use. Make all the ports >5000, like 5000-5049.

mmm... my router only lets me open like 20 ports at once, and I am already using a few of them. is there another way to make this work?

Why ICS if you have a Router?

You can not open a port to more than one computer.

You can change the port of thr ftp program and open the new port through the Firewalls.

However your friends would need to log in as ftp//:XXX.xxx.xxx.xxx:newport

It doesn't allow for port ranges like 5000-5049? -Odd.
