I will try to help. First off, if the "slow navigation" problem is being experienced by someone using dialup, then THAT is the problem. Someone connected at 28.8 isn't going to get speedy anything.

I have had users complain of slow folder navigation on my server as well, but that only happens when I have 4-6 people downloading at once. All that disk access makes for a slow folder listing.

I found out thru trial and error (mostly error :p) that it is beneficial to have a "FTP only harddrive." IOW, on my server, I have both my FTP program (GuildFTP) and all the FTP files on their own HD. I have found this makes it very speedy.

I have tested it out myself from a friend's house (cable connection) and have found that unless I have a lot of people downloading from me, the folder navigation is almost instantaneous.

At the very least, I'd defrag the drive your FTP stuff is on. Maybe clean it up a little. Hope this helps somewhat.
