FTP Server is DOWN!!!!! I am not liking Time Warner right now

6 July 2002: Time Warner is having fiber optic problems here in San Antonio. ETA: unknown. I can barely even surf. My DL speed is about .3kbps. (yes, you read that right... 1/3rd of a KB per second. :|)

Being that I couldn't surf anyway, and she was bugging me, I went to go see the GF last night. The world is now a better place. 😀

I got home, sat down, clicked a favorite and *BAM*:Q it was back up, in all of it's 240kb/s DL glory. I did a few tracerts and line quality tests. No dropped packets, no missed hops. *shrugs* Works for me!!!!! Linky in sig. Thanks.

Download Yatta to your HD and play from there. My connection speed isn't fast enough to support playing directly from my HD, over the net.
 
Bump before I'm off to Job#2. Right now, I have 4 user downloading at between 9 and 21kbps. Not bad for a dinky cable connection. One user would be DLing b/t 45-55kbps (max I've seen) Not too shabby. Enjoy. Be back later tonight. 🙂
 
Well, how did everything work? Any corrupted downloads? I've got the tech from Time Warner coming tomorrow to check my line. I'd like to know; thanks. 🙂
 
Hey, I downloaded a couple albums off your FTP earlier today(yeaterday?)....Liscensed to Ill and Puddle of Mudd. They sound really good, thanks😀
I also uploaded some Red Hot Chili Peppers, but I missed a couple tracks......I'll upload them tomorrow. I got about 16KB/s download, so thats not to bad. Thanks for the FTP😀

EDIT: The MP3s are encoded by lame, 192.

Hahah, you saw my other thread right? Funny!!!!🙂 I really, really love the Blood Sugar Sex Magik album..one of my favorites...I never got around to buying it on CD. Thanks very much!!!!

On a side note, the music that is currently on my FTP is a "cross section" of my collection. I have over 250 CDs. Store bought, not burned (not that there's much of a diff anyway) but ripping/encoding is a lengthy process,you know? I try to add a few CDs a day...will do some tonight. Come back soon, ok?

Whoa.....thats weird......I didnt see your other thread:Q I was just looking through my MP3s and I figured that it would be nice to upload some since I downloaded some. I just picked the Blood Sugar Sex Magic because I saw that you had the Calafornication album. Oh well, that was an odd coincidence😀 I'll try to upload some more, I'm just going to wait until one day when I'll just leave my computer running while I'm out.
 
Hey guys, FYI, my upload speed is screwed up again. I'm also dropping packets, according to DSLreports tests'. Time Warner is coming out on Saturday to check the line. I'm postivie it's got something to do w/the rain we've been getting. It dried out this morning and my upload speeds were great. It's raining right now and they are horrible. Sorry!!!!! Fixed soon.
 
No, it's not the AT effect...even w/the AT effect, most folks can still manage a 10kbps download. It's the RAIN. Anyone who has watched TV in the past week knows that South Texas has been getting whacked w/the worst storm since October 1998. Right now, it's absolutely pouring outside...like as in "Build an Ark" pouring. 🙁 Lightning/thunder and the rest of the works, too.

So, I guess that everytime we have a bad storm, my line quality will go to sh1t. That's OK though. It rains in south TX about 5 times per year. 🙂 So I should be OK. At least I can surf right now...before, my cable went down entirely. Once the rain stops, I'll be good to go. Thanks for your patience.
 
how much space do you have on the ftp server? I can upload some hilarious clips, some you may have seen, some you may not have 🙂
