FTP Server behind a Router

Senior member
I have a Linksys Etherfast Cable/Dsl Router model BEFSR41 and I'm trying to set up a FTP server so it can be accessed through the firewall. I tried following the instructions for Forwarding and DMZ but it won't configure right. Any help would be appreciated. 😕

forward port 21 and 20 to your LOCAL ip with the ftp server (192.168.1.???)

this works fine for me. i have 4port linksys router and use serv-u

the only problem is that i cant get the ftp to work with cuteftp...it doenst like cuteftp for some reason. no clue why all others work that i tried

Have you tried the DMZ feature? It seems like it might be more secure if using a file server, so you could isolate it from the rest of the network.
